EGIS IN UKRAINE CELEBRATES THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS WESTERN REGIONAL OFFICE IN LVIV

On February 25, Egis in Ukraine celebrated the 30th anniversary of the company’s Western Regional Office in Lviv at the Futura HUB coworking center. We gathered our partners and colleagues to review the results of our work, share updates on current projects, and discuss the prospects for Ukraine’s infrastructure recovery.

The event was an opportunity to emphasize our long-term presence in Ukraine, where we have implemented dozens of public and private projects in areas such as heat and electricity supply, water supply, waste management, protection of critical infrastructure, industrial development, climate change adaptation, environmental reforms, and the construction of roads and railways, among many other sectors.

A particularly symbolic moment was the fact that it was in Lviv, 30 years ago, where Egis signed its very first contract in Western Ukraine - conducting a feasibility study for the extension of a tram line. Since then, our activities have expanded significantly: from research to master planning, from implementing electronic ticketing systems to supervising the construction of tram lines.

“We are a global company focused not only on the international scale but also on local needs. Today in Ukraine, by applying the best international practices, we closely collaborate with local partners to support the country’s sustainable recovery,” said Alan Corner, Commercial Director for Europe and Africa at Egis, who came from the United Kingdom to support the Ukrainian team and local partners on the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

As part of the event, three panel discussions were held, focusing on mobility, ecology, water, and energy. Our partners shared their experiences of working with Egis and discussed key projects, including the implementation of an automated fare collection system, the modernization of district heating in Lviv, the development of a waste management strategy, and the construction of a biogas plant.

Representatives of donors Nefco and Swedfund also joined the event to present their achievements and active projects in Ukraine. Their participation provided an important opportunity to discuss further cooperation, exchange experiences, and explore new opportunities to support projects aimed at the recovery and modernization of Ukraine's infrastructure.

In addition, we announced the upcoming student competition - an initiative aimed at supporting the intellectual potential of talented youth, encouraging scientific and creative work, and offering employment opportunities and professional growth in the fields of mobility, transport, and logistics.

"Since 1993, we have been a trusted engineering and technical consultant to Ukrainian partners across all infrastructure sectors—from transport to the environment. We are proud that the knowledge and expertise of our teams have grown alongside the communities we serve, both in the best of times and in the most challenging ones," emphasized Alex Gittelson, Managing Director of Egis in Ukraine, Caucasus, and Central Asia.

We sincerely thank all participants, partners, and clients for their active engagement in the discussions and for supporting our shared goal: to create sustainable, efficient, and modern infrastructure solutions for Ukraine’s future. Despite all challenges, we continue working here and now together building a strong foundation for the country’s recovery.
